Welcome to the first installment of  Niche Rivalry. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be this close to the launch.

When I started LostCyclist, my main goal was to create a place for my friends and family to learn how to do what I am doing.   This challenge is going to let me take your hand, and show you step-by-step how this is done.

I can guarantee you that if you take consistent action each day, you will see a profit.

Brainstorming

(24 Minutes of Training!)

Whenever I am talking to people about my enterprise, one of the first questions they as is “What do you write about?”.

The answer is “pretty much anything”

You just have to pick something.

Mind Map

This is where I always start.  I pull out a list of paper and start writing hard and fast listing everything in the room.   As certain items catch my eye, I asterisk them to come back to later.

Then, I create a mind map out of my ideas.  Sometimes the website will be built off of the main term.  Other times, I build it off of one of the sub-terms.  Either way, it provides a great place to begin researching competition (more on competition tomorrow!)

Pat Flynn’s Method

Pat Flynn revealed an amazing mind-stimulating method where he writes down 7 fears, 7 problems and 7 passions.

Read more about his method on his page.

Chasing Products

Let’s face it, products are where the money is really at, and thanks to all of the wonderful affiliate programs out there, we have a wide variety to choose from.

One great idea is to create our niche sites around “hot new items” such as you can find on Amazon.com.  This is a little more in-depth, so I take a few minutes walking you through it on the video.

Primarily, I prefer to build website around the top, mind-mapping method or Pat Flynn’s 777 method.

That said, there’s nothing wrong with creating a webpage that will revolve around your products.  I did that with nomorewhitesocks.com and it turned out to be quite profitable.

That’s it! Now get your mind map done.  Tomorrow I’m going to show you how to pick the most profitable niche!
